As well as the Cardiff Festival there are plenty of other attractions to keep the kids busy including Cardiff Castle, which is free to all residents of Cardiff or for those who work in the city. The Cardiff Castle Pass allows the pass holder free entry to the castle grounds, the Norman keep, interpretation Centre, and Access to a selection of the Castle interiors ( self-guided) .
There are also many parks in Cardiff to take the children too. Bute Park, Roath Park, Victoria Park and Grange Gardens have all been awarded Green flags making them a perfect budget busting option on a sunny day. For when the weather isn’t so nice, libraries across the city also offer credit crunching facilties for children over the summer holidays, including books, free computer usage and story telling sessions. Executive Member for Sport, Culture and Leisure, Cllr Nigel Howells said: “The council recognises that entertaining the children over the summer can be an expensive task, this is why we have set up activities such as the playscheme and the Cardiff festival. Each year families across Cardiff benefit from using these free services. With families budgets stretched a little harder this year I am sure the free services on offer will be even more in demand.”
