NEW BUS INFORMATION LAUNCHED IN CITY CENTRE
New bus information displays are being rolled out at stops across the centre of Cardiff.

Distinctive and easy to use, the panels give passengers a simplified way to plan their journeys in and out of the city.

Stops are alphabetical and colour-coded and have been designed to help eradicate any problems passengers may have found previously. The new system has also been designed with the full support of Cardiff Bus, Stagecoach and other providers within the city.

Since the opening of the St David’s shopping development, the number of visitors to the city centre has rapidly increased and as its evolution continues Cardiff Council is committed to offering all bus users an excellent standard of service. The new information displays are an integral part of these aims and allow passengers to easily plan ahead and find the correct bus stop for their journey home.

Leaflets containing the new information will soon be circulated through a number of public buildings across Cardiff, and handed out to shoppers, workers and visitors throughout the city centre.

Details of new arrangements are also available via Traveline Cymru, on 0871 200 22 33, or at www.traveline-cymru.info

Although based within the city centre for the time being, the new information displays will soon be rolled out across the city.

Executive Member for Transport Councillor Delme Bowen said: “A lot of work has gone into making this information simple and informative and I am confident bus users will see a really big difference. All views have been taken into account and what’s been produced is a landmark step forward for public transport in the city.

“All the leaflets and displays have information on the free b service, which also forms part of public transport within our city centre. One of the main aims of our Sustainable Travel City Initiative is to encourage more people to use the city’s buses and this information is designed to do just that.”

Margaret Everson from Bus Users UK Cymru said: “Bus Users UK Cymru welcomes the introduction of the new information posters.  It is essential to keep passengers informed of any changes to their bus services and to bus stops and these posters will go a long way towards encouraging people to take the bus into Cardiff, confident that they know where to get their bus home.”
