Following our report on this charity for our August edition, we felt it was appropriate to give you an update on progress and another chance to see if you can help.
This project has been running since September 2005 and when complete will provide a secondary school in Kigali for more than 1,000 pupils.
The entire project has been supported by Rwanda Restored and voluntary donations from individuals, schools and churches. When the project is completed it will be a fully residential school with catering facilities, dormitories and sick bay.
Many of the pupils will be orphans of genocide and/or AIDS. In 1994 more than 1 million people were slaughtered in what will be recorded as one of the worst atrocities of all time.
This project is a massive undertaking, the total cost of which will be £500,000.
The school is being built in 6 stages, the first of which is due for
completion later this month.
Rwanda Restored urgently needs help to raise £82,000 to ensure that the initial stage can be completed for the school to open in January 2008.
Maybe you could help with
fundraising activities at your school, church or place of work? Perhaps you are a member of a charity which could be able to assist? Please give some thought to building hope, purpose and dignity into young people in Rwanda.
